Delivery of educational experiences at Dulacca State School aligns with the Australian Curriculum and Department of Education Curriculum and Reporting Framework. Our students are provided with opportunities to learn in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, Technology, The Arts and HPE. Our 5/6 students participate in LOTE lessons through distance education and Technologies with the IMPACT Centre.
The school is organised into two multi-aged classroom as Prep-Y2 and Y3-Y6 grouping. We target individual students at their current academic level and use inclusive practices to enable all student access the curriculum and learning as best fits. Students receive an individualised and differentiated educational experience – one that we are very proud to offer. Pedagogy at Dulacca is informed by Universal Design for Learning Principals, 8 Ways of learning and High Yield learning teaching strategies.
Our school's Kindergarten program is based on the Queensland kindergarten learning guideline which provides advice for planning, interacting with children, monitoring and assessing learning as teachers engage children in active, language rich learning through play, real-life engagements, routines and transitions. Foundations for Success is a resource which acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ways of knowing and being, and supports the embedding of personal and cultural identities and connections with families and communities in the learning program. The kindergarten program further develops children's thinking and problem-solving skills as well as their language, social and creative capabilities. These skills form the foundations for engaging in the content of the Foundation – Year 2 requirements of the Australian Curriculum, supporting continuity of learning for children across kindergarten to Year 2 and a successful transition to Prep.
Prep year is developed around the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines and age appropriate pedagogy. The program provides opportunities to explore, develop independence and social skills, promote fine and gross motor skills and learn through play and hands on activities.
Year 3-6 learn in an inclusive and cooperative environment. Students are co-constructors of their learning and presentation experiences. They experience the curriculum through a range and variety of learning opportunities incorporating multimedia and technology platforms.
The development of a supportive, safe school environment to ensure equal access to quality education for all students is a priority and is ongoing at Dulacca State School.
